"8 problems with Common Core Standards" Summary

First, I was intrigued to read what the publisher had to say with the Common Core Standards. When reading it is obvious that he is not in favor of the Common Core Standards, and his reasonings are completely valid. The publisher points out that "standards" in education shouldn't be so standardized and secular. He also disagrees with the fact that there were no veteran teachers, or anyone with experience in education on this project, he says that 'policymakers' in Washington, DC have put this program in 45 states without a pilot program. Another big point that he makes, standardized testing will be given on a national platform."America will be testing every kid- the mentally disabled, the sick, the hungry, the homeless, the transient, the troubled..." [Strauss/Brady]. Its obvious that he has distain towards this program, and feels there should be something different.
